Geraldine Erman
Artist Bio
Since the 1980s Geraldine Erman’s work has employed unexpected juxtapositions of sources that include found objects, everyday materials and more recently; digital media. These combinations and contrasts are intended to suggest an underlying, animated vitalism. Earlier constructions ranged from juxtapositions of ‘found’ furniture and textiles to 3d digital models of existing flora and fauna , using incongruous forms and structures to allude to the corporeal. For the last decade, digital media has supplanted the analogue and includes three-dimensional animation and interactive web-based works. Her work has been supported by the Guggenheim Foundation, The American Academy in Rome, the Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation, and others.
