Marshall James Kavanaugh
Artist Bio
Hailing originally from Philadelphia, PA, Marshall James Kavanaugh spent several years traveling around the country as a poet "on the road" before settling in Taos in 2016. Since then he has spent his time on the streets of the southwest as a Dream Poet For Hire, dishing out typewritten poetry on demand for folks seeking literary thrills and alternative realities. Ma Ja Ka, his trumpet-playing unicorn dream body, has tagged along for most of the ride. Together they dream labor the vision necessary to instruct how to lucid live in waking life. Kavanaugh was the artist in residence at Parse Seco in April 2018, where he curated A Poem Is Where The Heart Is, an interactive installation full of typewriters and living poetry for National Poetry Month. Before that he spent the better part of 2017 touring the country as Poets For Peace, with over a dozen other poets, offering a narrative of hope and resistance to audiences large and small. His greatest motivation is inspiring others to pursue and live out their dreams.
