Artist Bio
Megan and Murray McMillan are multidisciplinary artists who have been collaborating since 2002. Their work is a blend of installation, video, performance and photography. While the end result of the work is often video installation, they see the entire process — from animated digital models and concept drawings to their specific engagement with the people who participate to construction to filming to final installation — as equally essential to their practice.

The McMillans have exhibited at the Casa Masaccio Center for Contemporary Art in San Giovanni Valdarno, Italy, the Kunsthallen Brandts in Odense, Denmark, the State Museum of Contemporary Art in Thessaloniki, Greece, the National Museum of Art in La Paz, Bolivia, the RISD Museum and the deCordova Museum. The McMillans have been artists in residence in Barcelona, Los Angeles, Athens, and Turku, Finland. Their work has been featured in film festivals in New York, London, Los Angeles, Switzerland, Austria, Croatia, Greece and Romania. Their work has been included in the 2012 deCordova Biennial, the 2nd Thessaloniki Biennale of Contemporary Art (2009), and the 10th International Istanbul Biennial (2007) and was recently featured in an internationally broadcast video art festival in a solo exhibition curated by Paolo Colombo during the Ikono On-Air Festival in Berlin.

Their current projects include a solo exhibition opening at Qbox Gallery in Athens in 2014, a new video and performance installation for Nuit Blanche 2014 in Toronto and a new video installation commissioned for MASS MoCA that opens in 2015.

Megan McMillan (born 1975, Dallas, TX) is a full-time faculty member at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. Murray McMillan (born 1973, Dallas, TX) is an associate professor at Roger Williams University in Rhode Island. The McMillans have been married since 1997.
