Education Drive
We have been providing programs for youth since 2010, and are now launching our first education-specific fundraiser! Your support will help us expand the reach and depth of our programming. It will allow us to be present in more classrooms, to provide more internship opportunities, and to further cultivate our visiting artist program. Help us reach our goal of $15,000 by November 1!

With your support, the CURRENTS Youth Media Makers education program will continue to facilitate and expand workshops/presentations in elementary, middle, and high school classrooms throughout New Mexico; provide paid internships for local youth and college level students from across the United States; and support guided tours of our annual exhibition for local summer camp children.
Here’s what we accomplished in 2018:

- Visited 24 Classes at 11 High Schools (both public and private)
- Reached Over 500 High School students through in-class visits
- Engaged 9 Elementary school classes who participated in multi-week technology-based workshops
- Developed and implemented art/tech after-school workshops for over 70 middle school students in Hobbs, New Mexico — facilitated by young New Mexican new media artists
- Provided paid summer internships for 8 local youth interns and 7 national and 2 local college-level interns
- Engaged over 300 children from local summer camps in guided tours of the CURRENTS main exhibition

Our CURRENTS educators and visiting artists use new media art and digital tools to engage youth in curiosity-based learning. Their students become storytellers, media-makers, and artists. (Image of 2018 visiting artists for our programming in Hobbs, NM)
