As part of opening weekend of the 17th Annual CURRENTS New Media Festival, the IAIA Digital Dome presents a special screening of Enter the Cave: Dome by Taiwanese computational artist Chen-An Lee and composer Daniel Cheng. This screening will be accompanied by other demonstrations of the Domes capabilities.
A meditative 9-minute dome-projection work, Enter the Cave draws on natural phenomena and the inner life of the mind — exploring the relationship between people, nature, and the self through immersive visuals and spatial sound. Originally presented at Taiwan’s Future Vision Lab and C-LAB, this piece finds a powerful new home under the dome’s full-hemisphere projection environment.
This screening is also a celebration: 2026 marks 10 years of the IAIA Digital Dome as a space for immersive art, technology, and Indigenous creative expression. Recent upgrades — including five Barco 4K laser projectors, a next-generation Puget Systems render server, and a 24-channel Genelec spatial audio system — make this one of the most technically capable dome environments in the Southwest.
Come experience what the dome can do! Free and open to the public
At IAIA, we believe technology is a creative medium — one that can hold cultural memory, expand artistic practice, and open new forms of expression. The IAIA Computer Science for Art, Technology, and Culture (CSAT) program was built on that belief, weaving together Studio Arts, creative coding, sensors, physical computing, and real-time visuals and sound into an education rooted in place and community. At IAIA, we believe technology is a creative medium — one that can hold cultural memory, expand artistic practice, and open new forms of expression.
