Please read these Guidelines before filling out the Form


This Year’s Categories include:
New Media Installations, Outdoor New Media Installations and Projections, Interactive Installations for Children, Single Channel Video and Animation, Multimedia Performance, Experimental Documentary, Augmented Reality / Mobile Device Apps / Art-Gaming / Web-Art, Virtual Reality Environments, Robotics, and Digitally Generated Objects (ie. 3D Printing).

Installation, Robotics, Performance, VR and Outdoor Artists will be considered for travel, lodging and shipping support.

Submission Form Instructions

Work Samples

  • Documentation of work samples must be viewable online (personal website, YouTube, Vimeo, Dropbox, etc)
  • uploaded video still captures should be full file resolution .jpg only
  • uploaded photos and other images should be original resolution (the larger the better) .jpg only

Submission Fee schedule is as follows:
One Submission = $20 (USD)
Two or more Submissions in one or multiple categories = $15 (USD) for each submission
The Submission Fee for each entry must be paid separately

You are welcome to submit multiple entries in one or more Categories.
You must submit a new form for each entry.

Follow these steps to fill out the Submission Form:

  • Fill out the general information at the top of the Form. About half way down select the Category you wish to submit your work in. Once you have selected the Category you can fill out the remainder of the Form. You are welcome to submit multiple entries in one or more categories. You must submit a new form for each entry.
  • Once you have submitted the form and paid your submission fee you will receive an email confirmation with a copy of the form you submitted. If you wish to enter another submission return to the Submission Form page.

New Media Installations
(non-interactive and interactive installations, interactive installations for children, multi-channel video, sound)

Submissions must include:

  • a completed online submission form
  • the title of the work, year created

  • upload a complete description of the work .pdf only
  • brief bio – 150 max word count

Outdoor New Media Installations and Projections

Video and Installations can be either interactive or not. The works will be presented int the Santa Fe Railyard Plaza adjacent to the Festival’s main exhibition at El Museo Cultural on opening weekend – June 8-10. You are welcome to submit installations designed for presentation in trucks (i.e. UHaul moving truck), vans or other vehicles.

Submissions must include:

  • a completed online submission form
  • the title of the work, year created
  • a website or link where work can be seen (see work sample description above)
  • if you are sending a link for a video that is password protected enter the password
  • upload a complete description of the work .pdf only
  • brief bio – 150 max word count
  • brief statement about the work you are submitting – 150 max word count

Interactive Installations for Children

Single Channel Video and Animation

Submissions must be 15 minutes or less in length.
Please submit multi-channel videos under New Media Installation category.

Multimedia Performance

Experimental Documentary

We are looking for shorts and feature length documentaries which are considered by their creators as art works that use video as a medium in all its variety. The work can be of personal, social or impressionistic nature.
Special guidelines for this category are:
No more than two submissions – shorts 1-20 mins – features 45-90 mins

Submissions must include:

We are looking for artists who are developing AR, Apps or Websites as an art form, not as portfolio or commercial promotion. Websites may be interactive but do not have to be.

Special Category

Axle Contemporary Mobile Gallery: Call for New Media Art by New Mexico Artists

Axle’s retrofitted 1970 Aluminum Stepvan has an interior exhibition space of 6 feet x 10 feet.  Download the floor plan here: Axle Floor Plan

We seek submissions/proposals for works of New Media Art for Axle during CURRENTS 2018.  We encourage work which addresses the theme INTERPLANETARY this year, in conjunction with Santa Fe Institute’s Interplanetary Project. More info on that program here. Works can use the interior and/or exterior of the space, as well as surrounding public space.  Audiences can enter the space, observe from the exterior, or both. Depending on proposal, work can be presented for the Opening Weekend (June 8, 9, &10) or as much as Friday-Sunday during the weekends of the Currents festival in 2018 (June 8-24)

Artist will be provided with a $100 honorarium.

2018 will be our 8th year presenting New Media Art as part of the Currents Festival.
