You are welcome to submit multiple entries in one or more Categories.
You must submit a new form and pay the fee for each entry – $20 for a single entry and $15 each for multiple entries. The exception to this is the Single Channel Video and Animation Portfolios Category where you can submit multiple works on one form and pay a single $20 fee.


Submission Form Instructions


Work Samples

  • Documentation of work samples must be viewable online (personal website, YouTube, Vimeo, Dropbox, etc)
  • uploaded video still captures should be full file resolution .jpg only
  • uploaded hi-res photos and other images should be no larger than 3MB .jpg only

Follow these steps to fill out the Submission Form:

  • Fill out the general information at the top of the Form.
  • Select the Category in which you wish to submit your work. Each Category has a separate set of questions.
  • Once you have selected the Category you can fill out the remainder of the Form.
  • Select whether you are submitting a single form or multiple forms. This will determine your fee – $20/single, $15 each/multiple. If you are submitting in the Single Channel Video and Animation Portfolios Category you may submit multiple works on a single Form in the “complete description” pdf and pay a single $20 fee.
  • Submit the Form.
  • Once you have submitted the form and paid your fee you will receive an email notification with a copy of the form you submitted.
  • You are welcome to submit multiple entries in one or more categories. You must submit a new form and pay the fee separately for each entry, except for the Single Channel Video and Animation Portfolios Category (see above) .

NEW CATEGORY
Large Scale Interactive Environments
We are inviting submissions for multi-dimensional, immersive environments that engage the audience in interactive experience and sensory exploration of space and imagination.

Submissions of previously executed work or proposals are welcome. Proposal work samples must include examples of similar to work proposed.

Financial support is possible, depending on budget and scale.

Artists in this category are eligible for travel, lodging, shipping and equipment support.

Submissions must include:

NEW CATEGORY
Main Venue Entrance Design
We are inviting submissions for imaginative, eye-catching structural designs for the venue’s main entrance in the Santa Fe Railyard Art District.

Outdoor Installations and Projections
Video and Installations can be either interactive or not. The works will be presented adjacent to the Festival’s main exhibition entry at El Museo Cultural on opening weekend – June 7 & 8. You are welcome to submit installations designed for presentation in trucks (i.e. UHaul moving truck), vans or other vehicles.

Artists in this category are eligible for travel, lodging, shipping and equipment support.

Submissions must include:

Multimedia Performance

  • brief bio – 150 max word count

Interactive Installations for Children
This category is looking for work that is accessible to children but that also appeals to the adult members of our audience. Work should utilize technology to engage the user in new, playful forms of exploration.

Single Channel Video and Animation Portfolios

This year we will be selecting 3 to 5 artists who have a strong body of single channel video or animation shorts.

Each artist’s work will either be presented on a flat panel or projected, at the discretion of the curators.
The selections will be chosen from a link or links to the artist’s body of work and will be curated into a program of shorts that is no longer than 45 minutes in total length.

For this category only, you may include multiple works on a single form and pay a single $20 fee. If you are submitting multiple links, please include those in the “complete description” pdf.

Please submit multi-channel videos installations under the Installation category.

Submissions must include:

  • a completed online submission form
  • brief bio – 150 max word count
  • brief statement about the work you are submitting – 150 max word count
  • upload a complete description of your videos including titles, dates created, durations, links to view the videos and passwords if the links are private .pdf only

Experimental Documentary
We are looking for shorts and feature length documentaries which are considered by their creators as art works that use video as a medium in all its variety. The work can be of personal, social or impressionistic in nature.

Special guidelines for this category are:
No more than two submissions – shorts 1-20 mins – features 45-90 mins

Submissions must include:

Special Category

Axle Contemporary Mobile Gallery: Call for New Media Art by New Mexico Artists

Axle’s retrofitted 1970 Aluminum Stepvan has an interior exhibition space of 6 feet x 10 feet.  Download the floor plan here: Axle Floor Plan

We seek submissions/proposals for works of New Media Art for CURRENTS 2018. Works can use the interior and/or exterior of the space, as well as surrounding public space.  Audiences can enter the space, observe from the exterior, or both.  Depending on proposal, work can be presented for Opening Weekend or as much as Friday-Sunday during the weekends of the festival.

Artist will be provided with a $100 honorarium.

2019 will be our 8th year presenting New Media Art as part of the Currents Festival.
