Outdoor Call 2017

Currents 2016 Santa Fe, New Mexico

ACCEPTING PROPOSALS FOR OUTDOOR INSTALLATIONS
A call for artists living in New Mexico

Submission Deadline January 15th, 2017

CORRECTION – The shade structure bay dimensions were listed as 21ft x 17ft previously. They are actually 21ft x 12ft. Sorry about that.

Special call for New Mexico Residents only: CURRENTS New Media is seeking entries from artists or groups of artists who’s work can be shown outdoors at the Santa Fe Rail-yard as part of the 2017 CURRENTS Festival. Video and Installations can be either interactive or not. The works will be presented in the Santa Fe Railyard Plaza adjacent to the Festival’s main exhibition at El Museo Cultural on opening weekend – June 9-11.  The 2017 outdoor component will concentrate its layout along the Railyard shade structure.

We are excited to see proposals that can utilize the dimensions of the shade structure’s individual bays, which are each 21ft x 12 ft. The structure runs parallel to the railroad track on one side and faces the Farmers Market building on the other. Parallel Studios will provide materials for enclosing the bays on the railroad track and the Farmers Market sides.

Since the shade structure is utilized during the day for other purposes the work should be designed for easy deinstall and reinstall. Installations installed on the 9th, must come down by the morning of the 10th and can be re-installed again on the evening of the 10th, this repeats on the 11th. We are happy to discuss your installation options to assist you in solving this issue.

Artists working in performance, ephemeral installation, light, video and sound are encouraged to apply, all new media proposals will be considered and work with evidence of strong logistical planning will take priority.
