Submission Guidelines 2017

Submissions Are Now Closed For CURRENTS NEW MEDIA 2017
except for New Mexico High and Middle School Students


All Student Applicants must submit the online Submission Form

Please read these Guidelines before filling out the Form


This Year’s Categories include:
New Media Installations, Outdoor Video and New Media Installations, Single Channel Video and Animation, Multimedia Performance, Fulldome, Experimental or Interactive Documentary, Augmented Reality / Mobile Device Apps / Art-Gaming / Web-Art, Virtual Reality Environments, Robotics, Digitally Generated Objects (ie. 3D Printing) and Interactive Installations for Children.


Submission Form Instructions

Work Samples

  • video work samples must be viewable online (personal website, YouTube, Vimeo, Dropbox, etc)
  • uploaded video still captures should be full file resolution .jpg only
  • uploaded photos and other images – minimum size 300 dpi, 5″x 8″ (the larger the better) .jpg only

You are welcome to submit multiple entries in one or more Categories.
You must submit a new form for each entry.

Follow these steps to fill out the Submission Form:

  • Fill out the general information at the top of the Form. About half way down select the Category you wish to submit your work in. Once you have selected the Category you can fill out the remainder of the Form. You are welcome to submit multiple entries in one or more categories. You must submit a new form for each entry.
  • Once you have submitted the form a confirmation page will appear. If you wish to enter another submission you can select the HERE button. You will receive an email confirmation of your submission with a copy of the form you submitted.

SUBMISSION CATEGORIES


New Media Installations (video, sound, interactive)

Submissions must include:

  • a completed online submission form
  • the title of the work, year created
  • a website or link where work can be seen (see work sample description above)
  • if you are sending a link for a video that is password protected enter the password
  • upload a complete description of the work .pdf only 
  • upload a CV/resume .pdf only
  • upload 2 to 3 still images of the proposed work (see image requirements above) .jpg only
  • upload an installation floor plan indicating ideal space requirements / .jpg or .pdf only
  • upload an equipment list (indicating which equipment you will need the festival to supply) .pdf only

Outdoor Video and New Media Installations
Video and Installations can be either interactive or not. The works will be presented int the Santa Fe Railyard Plaza adjacent to the Festival’s main exhibition at El Museo Cultural on opening weekend – June 9-11. This year we are including installations designed for presentation in trucks (i.e. UHaul moving truck), vans or other mobile vehicles.

Submissions must include:

  • a completed online submission form
  • the title of the work, year created
  • a website or link where work can be seen (see work sample description above)
  • if you are sending a link for a video that is password protected enter the password
  • upload a complete description of the work .pdf only 
  • upload a CV/resume .pdf only
  • upload 2 to 3 still images of the proposed work (see image requirements above) .jpg only

Single Channel Video and Animation
Submissions must be 15 minutes or less in length.

Submissions must include:

  • the title of the work, year created, duration and a brief written description of the work / max 150 words each
  • a website or link where work can be seen (see work sample description above)
  • if you are sending a link for a video that is password protected enter the password
  • upload a CV/Resume .pdf only
  • upload 2 to 3 still images of the proposed work (see image requirements above) .jpg only

Multimedia Performance

Submissions must include:

Experimental or Interactive Documentary
We are looking for documentaries which are considered by their creators as art works that use video as a medium in all its variety. The work can be of personal, social or impressionistic nature.
Special guidelines for this category are:
No more than two submissions – short pieces 1-20 mins – feature pieces 45-90 mins

Submissions must include:

  • a completed online submission form
  • the title of the work, year created, duration and a brief written description of the work / max 150 words
  • a website or link where work can be seen (see work sample description above)
  • if you are sending a link for a video that is password protected enter the password

Augmented Reality / Mobile Device Apps / Art-Gaming / Web-Art
(phone, iPad, website, etc)
We are looking for artists who are developing applications or websites as an art form, not as portfolio or commercial promotion. Websites may be interactive but do not have to be.
