These are exact replicas of Denver and Rio Grande Railroads fist 4-wheel freight cars. They are solid modeled from the original blueprints of the 1880s. They are made up of many individual parts drawn and assembled in solid modeling. The parts are then printed, finish machined and assembled using scale bolts and adhesives as required then painted and weathered. They are fully functional with suspension, metal wheels with ball bearings, and link and pin coupling.
More important than the car is its load. Each car reflects its own personality containing a variety of different items. I designed and solid modeled all the components in each car with the exception of the people and their pets. These cars are used regularly on my outdoor railroad and have made many trips up and down the line. In use they sometimes get a bit of damage, requiring periodic maintenance.
