ZEITGEBER is a 3D animated video that unravels the narrative of Zeitgeber through the metaphor of a living tableau. A custom sound piece made in collaboration with the singer and musician, Katrina Eresman and fellow artist Ian Anderson tells the story of Jorian Gallio through abstraction, poetry, and speculation. A “zeitgeber” is an exogenous signal that sets our deeply-evolved mammalian biological clocks, or our circadian rhythm. The sun is the primary zeitgeber that we use to regulate our perception of time, but there are many others. The Zeitgeber worldbuild is intended to explore the effects of artificial light, screens, and the ongoing divorce from nature on our bodies in the future.
