(CCA) | who is the blue voice?
The three video poems are part of a multimedia project which began before the pandemic when harsh politics raged in the U.S. As I worked on the poems in northern New Mexico and New York, a blue voice emerged as higher self and mentor. In this time of shift and transformation, she calls for social justice in face of racism and the escalating anti-immigrant sentiment at a hostile Southern border where children and families are torn apart, even destroyed. Instead of fear and hatred, she ignites creative impulse and compassion. How can we learn to listen to a collective consciousness, shape a more inclusive future? As the poems came together, it felt just right to expand into multimedia with visual artist Anney Bonney and composer/trumpeter Frank London. Words, visuals and music are overlaid to enable them to breathe into each other, opening space for interpretation.
