Crossing the Nocturne
I am an accomplished painter who began a dialogue with video as a professor of art at the University of New Mexico.
My journey of discovery started when I began building elaborate kinetic sets in order to capture on video a large range of displacement. Several artist teams were utilized to simultaneously charge the rectilinear set with differentiated events.
Recently I have created images that are expressions of mysterious human circumstances. These high-action works emulate the formal traditions of abstract expressionist painting, imagist idea constructs and contemporary performance.
The Nocturne theme alludes to a person fitfully sleeping and wakening, while being enveloped by an odd menagerie of attendants through the night dreaming sequence.
