Current is a speculation on the future of broadcasting cinema. It emerges from the intersection of contemporary trends in live streaming culture, volumetric cinema, AI deep fakes and personalized narratives. Current 2019 prototyped a participatory workflow in the form of a 12-min volumetric cinema, which reconstructed event landscapes that are often hidden from us, such as changes in Nordic animal behaviours, the handling of trash, etc.. Current 2020 utilised the different reconstructed spaces as a virtual gallery for VR exhibition.
Current 2021 aims at hosting diverse virtual events in these reconstructed spaces in collaboration with other disciplines. These events include, but are not limited to 3D chess play, virtual choir, and fashion shows to fundraise for practitioners who are in financial precarity due to unforeseen circumstances of the pandemic.
