(Fairgrounds) | Face it!
Face it! is an interactive installation which invites viewers to play with a face-recognition system and uncover how it recognizes and classifies faces in real-time. A variety of magnets showing different facial elements are scattered on a magnetic wall. Participants are able to re-arrange these elements, thus creating different looking faces. A live feed video captures the surface and the detected faces are instantly analyzed by the system. The resulting analysis rely on various features to classify faces according to gender, age, race, emotional expression and more. Face recognition systems are becoming increasingly prevalent in the public domain and it has therefore become important to be familiar with this technology and understand how we might be seen through its lens and analytical processes.
