I have submitted to this festival an in-progress interactive fabric quilt that narrates immigrants' stories in the United States. I intend to amplify underrepresented immigrants, especially women's, voices and project these voices through cutting-edge technology through this piece. With these projects, I want to encourage citizens to honor multiculturalism, diversity, and inclusion. I will collaborate with a nonprofit organization, "Newest Americans," that produces multimedia stories about immigration. For the first project, I will create a quilt made of 100 fabric scraps. Into each scrap, I embroider and quilt an immigrant's story. These stories were collected from immigrants who participated in "Photoville," a photojournalism festival in New York. When visitors' hands approximate each fabric scrap, they activate an immigrant's voice narrating their story.
