In their so called "Digital Decalcomania" works the artists create digital 3D bodies and topographies.
These works exist in a purely virtual status. Presentations often take place by means of video screening, augmented-reality-settings or by integration in multimedia scenographies.
As the digital decalcomanias exist already as 3D files, the wish to bring those virtual bodies into physical reality suggests itself. So Casa Magica did 3D printing tests in various materials.
"Finistère" is a series of 3D stills from a digital decalcomania based on a video shot at the shore of the Atlantic Ocean in Finistére/France. Its printing material is colored sandstone.
These objects bear traces of their "find spot". one can easily imagine them lying on a beach full of flotsam and algae; however at the same time they are abstract small sculptures, nobody able to say, when closely inspected, what they are.
