Flooded House visualizes ocean level rise by physically flooding an apartment based on NASA's sea-level rise prediction and visitor input. The project transforms highly academic and abstract data into a relatable and visually striking material representation. The apartment is an exact replica of my own home, scaled 1:20, highlighting the extremely relevant flooding dangers in the States and beyond. Flooded House is not a data visualization that can be passively consumed: the project's strong focus on how stories and community intersect removes the data's anonymity. It invites visitors to explore what climate change looks and feels like from a point of empathy and compassion, calling them to action.
