Linear Cycle
"Linear Cycle" is a mixed media installation that delves into the nature of patterns, cycles and resonant frequencies. It consists of a wall-mounted sculpture, made of wood and dozens of elastic cords, and a computer-generated animation that is projected on the sculpture. The animation consists of a repeating linear pattern of black, grey and white bars driven by a series of virtual oscillators, but when it interacts with the sculpture it produces undulating moire patterns. No curves are projected: the wave-like appearance is purely the consequence of the resonant interference between the animation and the sculpture.
