Where would we be without our beloved technology? Our use of computers, cell phones, robots, drones, and other technology has reached a level of religious proportions and I am among the flock. I created this piece as a slightly satirical comment on our worship of technology. Of course the irony here is that without technology and my use of digital media, this piece would not exist at all.The Little Chapel features nine video screens that have animated “stained glass”windows showing different scenes such as "Our Blessed Lady of the Sacred Selfie" and "The Adoration of the MacBook". My inspiration comes from Medieval and Renaissance church windows that were designed to tell stories and offer guidance to the worshippers. As you enter the chapel you may hear familiar digital sounds and up lifting electronic music to inspire the soul. You are welcome to sit on the bench and look through the prayer book for guidance. Inside the prayer book are QR codes that when scanned, link you to the all mighty Internet with inspirational messages, affirmations and commandments. At the front of the Chapel sits the humanoid Madonna and Child. If your computer has a virus, your system has crashed or you’ve misplaced your cell phone, say a little prayer to the Madonna and Child.
