Metamorph & Swarm Caste
NoiseFold: Metamorph & Swarm Caste @ form & concept gallery
Opening Friday, May 26, 5-7pm through July 22
Artist talk Saturday, June 17, 2pm.
The work comprising Metamorph was pre-visualized via the artists’ generative performance software as a metamorphic transformation between a sphere and a novel double-coned geometry. form & concept will exhibit an endless video loop of this dynamic transformation next to the 6-7 blown-glass objects comprising the series.
Swarm Caste is one of a series of new glass works that utilizes mathematic data (the hacking of differential equations) to produce a wide variety of sonic and visual forms. In this instance the artists have fabricated a graphite mold that is then used to cast hot glass. The result is a set of bio-mimetic forms that suggest visual structures found in nature. Similar to their performances, the results are an evocative hybrid between the familiar and the alien.
NoiseFold produced Swarm Caste and Metamorph as Artists in Residence at the Pilchuck Glass School, where they were able to work with leading glass artists to realize an extensive body of work.
