Modern Abyss: Eco-Guilt
Modern Abyss: Eco-Guilt reimagines an updated, modern-day version of hell as a consequence of the anthropogenic impacts on our planet. Inspired by Haw Par Villa – a sculptural park in Singapore known for its gruesome depictions of the Ten Courts of Hell where souls await punishments for their sins in the afterlife – the piece reframes the traditional karmic system through an ecological lens, reflecting the overwhelming guilt of living in a world deeply entangled with environmental destruction.
