The seed for this work was born after spending time with the archives of the Museum of International Folk Art in Santa Fe. Mother Mary was all over the collection and yet imagined so differently all over the world, Coming back to where I live in Goa, I began to notice her very distinct rendition in the Indo Portugese context. That lead me to spending over a year researching the backstories and "versions" of the virgin the world over but especially looking at the post colonial. Our Lady of I Can Be Anything You Want Me To is a browser based work presented in the physical form of an altar installation. While exploring Marian devotion it also contemplates icon making, data vs insight, the logic of generative adversarial networks and what it means to be a container for different and contradictory ideas to freely converge.
