Building 1 / Pillory Paul (Basement Ontology)
“Pillory Paul" is a multimedia A/V intermedia performance and projection mapped video. At the start of the performance, the audience will see an egg-shaped tent with a wide opening in the front. Within the opening of the tent are abstract sculptural forms and a performer that is being video projection-mapped onto. The canvas walls of the tent will be used as screens for rear projection visuals. This artwork is an attempt at nonsensical, projection-mapped theatre. The character of “Pillory Paul” will be performed and projected onto the abstract sculptures, he is a painted face clown stuck in a pillory, similar to Pulcinella. As audience members settle into their seats they will hear this town fool's poems, stories, and defenses at a trial at the end of human history. Visualizations and animation of the characters orations form, dissolve behind and on his body.
