Signs & Tunes
In the framework of their audio-visual synesthetic interests Casa Magica initiated a project on the visualization of the sound of classical symphonic instruments. Fried Daehn composed tunes of about 30 seconds for 9 instruments, which were recorded with soloists of the Wuerttembergische Philharmonie Reutlingen. By means of sonograms of these recordings the artists created nine individual digital sound spheres, animated and synchronized to the sounds in videos.
Physically the work "Signs & Tunes" consists of nine enameled plates showing stills from the videos as enigmatic signs.
Only by using an Augmented-Reality App (LAYAR) a plate's sign comes to life on the smartphone or tablet display, where the respective sound sphere video superposes over the image of the plate.
