Sink 17
Sink 17 is a proposed projection-mapped thermal sculpture that explores heat as a material and active process and investigates questions of energy use, efficiency, and presence. It builds on previous thermal installations that I’ve done in the past, the first of which was part of the Resonances show at Currents 826. Sink 17 uses 12 steel panels, configured in a circular array, each with both a heater and a cooler attached to it. The heaters/coolers will run through a preset pattern to concentrate areas of hot and cold. A thermal camera is then used to projection map this temperature data back onto the steel sheets, helping to visualize the actions. As people interact with the sculpture, they are welcome to touch the metal panels and feel the different temperatures while also seeing their own heat signatures projected back onto the sculpture.
