"Speculations and Rumors of The Regenerative Turn" is a digital assemblage entirely composed of 3D scans created from original sculptures and found objects. A central form is the geological core sample, in this case a speculative accumulation of artifacts both natural and artificial which suggest a stratigraphy of anthropogenic waste. Traversing this visual metaphor with narrative text, the works traces a path from deep geological time to the fragile present and speculates on the future in light of the failures of futurism. Ultimately the narrative suggests a nonhuman future, one in which plant life fulfills the promise of natural regeneration that humans are unable to bring to fruition.
