Sun Studio SYMET
Friday and Saturday on Opening Weekend.
"Studio SYMET" is a collection of 10 to 20 solar powered robots that look like tiny satellites. They suck up light into their super capacitors and when they have enough they jerk sideways once per 2 or 3 seconds. Each robot has a marker onboard which makes a distinctive colored mark on the art paper on which all the robots sit. The finished colorful abstract drawing is a record of where each robot has been. I will draw with this installation outside of Currents' entrance in the railyard, each day for about an hour at 1 or 2 pm. I welcome the public to pick a color for a bot and place it on the paper. It takes about 1-2 hours to finish a drawing in strong sunlight.
