SV+VS / Structural Analogy
Structural Analogy is presented as part of our Guest Curator Exhibition - SV+VS (Sonifying Visuals / Visualizing Sound) curated by Yoon C Han.
Structural Analogy is a series of visual music studies that apply techniques from music information retrieval and pattern formation to audiovisual transformation, with the goal of identifying systematic rules to transfer structures and narratives from audio to visual domain. In this version, high-level music descriptors of the electroacoustic composition are used as parameters to control a visual system with fluid-like behaviors and vibration characteristics. The music video is created using a custom software application, which enables examination of emergent connections between sound and visuals at various spatial and temporal scales through computation and algorithms.
Our Guest Curator Exhibition is supported by a generous grant from the Carl and Marilynn Thoma Art Foundation.
