The Black Box is a hypnotic documentary experience that invites participants into a digitally mediated dialogue with the ancestral spirit for guidance in the transmission of mushroom cultivation software throughout the afro diaspora... deep immersion in the roots beneath the roots, as expressed in the praxis of food justice.
"THE BLACK BOX
is
cinema as ceremony,
a hypnotic window
into the ancestral
and
an opportunity for healing"
"*..to be viewed in a safe setting, with a relaxed, open mind, on a good screen, with good sound... in the dark"
CHAPTER ONE - "The Opening"
The cinema dispositive is used to invite the viewers and many actors into hypnotic regressive trance in order to contact the creative inner space, the "ancestral zone"
CHAPTER TWO - "The Mirror"
Filmed in Haiti, the screen begins to reveal itself as a living mirror of the consciousness of both the viewers and their doubles on screen. We begin to realise that the viewing itself is alive, and are encouraged to put down the alienating smartphone Black Box, and ventrue forward into the vastness of subjectivity, the Black Box within. On the other side of that mirror is everyday life, but seen for the first time.
