Unforgiving Love
Unforgiving Love is a kinetic installation that uses found tree branches, sandpaper, motors, and custom electronics to create a poetic commentary on the tension between humanity and nature. The work centers around a tree branch continuously dragged across an abrasive surface, gradually disintegrating into dust. This process invites viewers to contemplate the paradox of our relationship with the natural world. Is nature an idyllic state, or is it inherently indifferent and destructive? The repetitive, mechanized erosion of the branch reflects nature’s own relentless cycles of decay and renewal, but it also suggests humanity’s tendency to interfere, sometimes destructively, with natural processes. The work questions the boundaries we place between the “natural” and the “artificial” and challenging us to rethink our place within an evolving, unyielding world.
