UPSIDE DOWN
“Dance as a revolutionary act against the criminalization of the human body by the authoritarian Islamic Republic of Iran". Taking advantage of collage technique and mixing archival footage from the director’s underground dance class in Iran and other dance shots exclusively taken for this movie, Alireza not only seeks to deconstruct the conventional notion of dance-film, but also narrates a history of oppression on the human body, using documentary footage from the "Women Life Freedom" and "Green Movement" protests in Iran.
