‘Wretched Light Industry’ is a collaborative virtual world, cobbled together in Scotland by myself and Jay Darlington. It is set on the fictional Hebridean island of Eilean Fogg, a map designed and built by Jay & I as formed around the 33 environments submitted by emerging digital artists from around the world, with a focus on Scotland. We looked to create a unique form of virtual arts presentation without any antiquated deferrals to white cube spaces or web formats, instead embracing immersion, fantasy, accessibility and maybe a touch of whimsy. We allowed the artists to build their work for interactive spaces from the ground up, leading to eclectic and exciting results. The environments feature sea serpents, thyroids, poetry, offices, tornadoes, dragons and much more. The world is available for Mac and Windows in 7 languages, and has an original soundtrack.
In collaboration with Jay Darlington & 31 other contributing artists.
