Youth Media Makers is our youth outreach program that engages youth through exhibition tours, internships and showcasing student work during the Currents festival.
In 2015 we provided tours of our exhibition to over 200 elementary, middle and high school students, exposing them to the cutting edge of new media works.
We have hosted college and university students from University of North Texas, University of New Mexico and Cornish College for the Arts as interns during the run of Currents. In 2016, we are working with Access, a program of the Santa Fe Youth Shelters, to create internships for at-risk youth.
Each year, we visit schools around northern New Mexico making presentations about the festival and showing student and professional work to inspire high-school students. Currents also exhibits student works that have been submitted to our open call.
