Artist Bio
Ariana Gerstein is an artist and educator who works with experimental non fiction forms. Her films have shown internationally at festivals such as New York Film Festival, SXSW, Hot Docs, Chicago Underground, Media City, and many others. She has been awarded grants for projects including this one by the New York State Council on They Arts, but also The Rockefeller Foundation and the NEA. Her films have been broadcast on the PBS program POV. Her partner, Monteith McCollum is a filmmaker who also does sound/ performance/ and installation. They have worked together many times including on documentaries such as Hybrid (Monte Directed and composed, Ariana was editor), which received and the Truer Than Fiction Independent Spirit Award and the feature documentary Milk in the Land.
