Artist Bio
The Lonely Reef Crew was formed by Hayden Carey and Zeve Cohen who dreamed up the Lonely Reef Art Car in 2024. By 2025, the Santa Fe-based collective had grown beyond the two of us to include our talented close friends. The Crew has expanded to a rotating cast of more than 40 collaborators spanning artists, fabricators, designers, technologists, engineers, mechanics, producers, and niche specialists. The larger team originally gathered at Hayden and Zeve's home before expanding into a warehouse off Siler Road where they worked for 6 intense months to construct the Lonely Reef Art Car, a mutant vehicle in the long Burning Man tradition. From the team, a small cohort attends Burning Man to oversee the shipment, the build, and the fun of piloting The Reef as it sets sail on the dusty sea.
