Artist Bio
Leonardo Madriz (b.1987, Baton Rouge, LA) is an interdisciplinary artist based in Brooklyn, NY. His work deals with themes of immigration, identity as linked to place, and critique of The American Dream as framed by personal narrative. He received his BFA from Louisiana State University in 2010, and his MFA from Hunter College, NY, in 2021. Recent group exhibitions include Invoking the Amphibian at ZXY Gallery (NY, 2021), Lucky to Be Here at Longwood Gallery through Bronx Council on the Arts (NY, 2021), HEAVEN at 205 Hudson Street Gallery (NY, 2021), Trust Fall online exhibition by MFASO of Hunter College (NY, 2020), Orphans of Painting II at Ethan Cohen KuBe (Beacon, 2019), and Waiting for the Garden of Eden at White Box Gallery (Harlem, 2019).
