Magnus Sigurdarson
Artist Bio
I was born in Reykjavik, Iceland in 1966, and graduated from the Icelandic College of Arts and Crafts in Reykjavik with my BFA in 1992 after finishing my renaissance studies (Drawing, painting, and anatomy) at The Studio of Cecil & Graves in Florence, Italy. With a Fulbright scholarship, I earned my MFA from Mason Gross School of Arts, Rutgers University in 1997. I lived and worked in Brooklyn, NY from 1996 - 2000. In 2004 I moved to Miami, FL, and lived and worked there for 16 years establishing myself as a "conceptual" artist, working with the artist-run entity, Dimensions Variable or DV. There I operated a studio and did curatorial works in the exhibition realm of DV. I am represented by EmersonDorsch Gallery in Miami where I have exhibited continuously since 2010. In 2022 I moved to El Dorado, NM but I have developed a strong connection with New Mexico.
