The New Genres Club
"Formed in the Summer of 2017, The New Genres Collective is comprised of faculty, alumni, and student designers and artists at Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design, located in Denver, Colorado. The collective was founded by instructors, Tobias Fike, Jeff Page and student, Alex Killgore.
Following a Fluxus-like framework, the NGC creates experimental, multi-media happenings. The collective regularly collaborates with outside artists and organizations, including Redline and internationally known digital musician, Entrancer.
In its first five months of existence, the NGC has quickly emerged as a presence in Denver. Their first performance, at Redline's, "48 hours of Socially-Engaged Art" addressed gentrification in the booming urban development landscape of Denver. This poetically-charged and political piece quickly garnered the NGC mass attention. The Collective has only built on that momentum, having since performed at the Detached Garage Residency and created a post-lecture happening for Andrea Zittel on the campus of RMCAD."
