Primordial Dismemberment is a video art duo founded in Montreal in 2019 by Thomas L. Archambault and Manolis Daris, both studio arts graduates at Concordia University. Their work takes advantage of the openness of the videographic medium to develop non-conventional approaches to cinematic narration. Drawing inspiration from the non-linear and participative narrative conventions of video games, they seek to create stories that reward creative and inquisitive viewers. They hope that by doing so, they can encourage a deeper and more personal engagement with the themes of their films, which range from post-humanism to ongoing debates within ecological theory, and which are always seen through the prism of humanity's evolving relationship with ideas of deep time and non-human agency. Their work has been exhibited at the Centre des arts actuels SKOL in Montreal.
