Artist Bio
REYNALIZ HERRERA is an award winning musician, percussionist, composer, physical actress and educator based in Boston but originally from Mexico. She holds a Bachelor of Music from The University of Ottawa, a Master of Music from The Boston Conservatory and studied at the Escuela Superior de Musica y Danza de Monterrey.
Reynaliz has performed (including her own music) in different countries like Mexico, US, Canada, Cuba, Spain, Germany and Italy, and has performed and collaborated with renowned ensembles and artists such as: The National Arts Center Orchestra of Canada, The Ottawa Symphony Orchestra, Mexican Dance Group: Danza Contemporanea en Concierto, The Boston Opera Collaborative , Double Edge Theater Company, Flamenco Boston, Boston Percussion Group, as well as with renowned musicians like Bob Becker, Ian Bernard, Evelyn Glennie, Pinchas Zukerman, Marcus Santos, Noel Savon Maria Finkelmeier and Giselle Ty. Reynaliz has also been marimba and percussion soloist several times with The National Arts Center Orchestra of Canada, and performed solo recitals in different countries.
Reynaliz has taken her own “Ideas, Not Theories” to perform in in the U.S, Mexico and Canada. Highlight performances have included: The International Festival of Arts & Ideas (New Haven, CT), The Flea Theater in Tribeca NY, The National Arts Center of Canada, M.I.T, The New York International Fringe Festival, The New York University Day of Percussion (NYU/KoSA/HLAG), The Cambridge Arts River Festival, ILLUMINUS Festival, The World Maker Faire NY (At NY Hall of Science), Boston Maker Faire, and at museums like The Boston Children's Museum, The Please Touch Museum in Philadelphia, The Brooklyn Children's Museum.
Other appearances in Reynaliz’s career have included: South By Southwest (Austin), Revolutions International Theater Festival (New Mexico), The Wang Theater and Paramount Theater, Teatro Amadeo Roldan (Cuba), Palau de las Artes (Spain), among others.
She has also received international and national awards like , The National Youth Award & The State Youth Award (Mexico), The Festival PERCUBA 2002- International Percussion Competition in Cuba, The National Arts Center of Canada´s Bursary Competition, National Arts Center of Canada “My First NAC Award” and the MTV Latin America “agent of change award”.
