Artist Bio
Richard became interested in photography and the potential of the computer in the early 1980s. He worked as a freelance photographer and designer, before becoming interested in the possibilities of interactive media and the nascent web. He continues to be fascinated by the impact of technology on photography, still and moving image. His work explores how life today is mediated by and filtered through technology, and that notions of the self, memory, time and place have fundamentally shifted. He is exploring how artificial intelligence and machine learning can be deployed in the creation of computer-mediated artefacts, examining post-human to non-human modes of photographic production. He has been exhibited around the world and shortlisted for the South by South West Interactive Awards (USA) and won the Flashforward Film Festival (USA).
