Steven J. Cox is Emeritus Professor of Computational and Applied Mathematics at Rice University, Assistant Professor of Engineering and Technology at Northern New Mexico College in Espanola, NM, and the director of the Northern New Mexico STEM Mentor Collective. Affiliated with the Center for Neuroscience, Cognitive Sciences Program, and the Ken Kennedy Institute for Information Technology, he is also Adjunct Professor of Neuroscience at the Baylor College of Medicine. In addition, Dr. Cox served as Associate Editor for a number of mathematics journals, including the Mathematical Medicine and Biology and Inverse Problems.Among his more than 50 publications, are Morphologically accurate reduced order modeling of spiking neurons (Journal of Computational Neuroscience), A new method for extracting cable parameters from input impedance data, (Mathematical Biosciences), Discerning ionic currents and their kinetics from input impedance data, (Bulletin of Mathematical Biology), and the seminal textbook: Mathematics for Neuroscientists (Academic Press).
