Artist Bio
Avital Meshi is a New Media and Performance artist who examines the entanglement between AI and bodies and its impact on identity, behavior, and social manifestations. Inspired by Relational-Aesthetics, New-Aesthetics, and Agential Realism, Meshi invites people to spend time with AI technology and reveal the agency that emerges within the performative interaction between humans and non-human intelligences. Meshi is a PhD student at UC Davis's Performance Studies Graduate Group. She holds an MFA from the Digital Arts and New Media program at UC Santa Cruz, a BFA from the School of The Art Institute of Chicago, a BSc and an MSc in Behavioral Biology from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel. Her work was shown NYU's Institute of Fine Arts, UC Berkeley's art gallery, CURRENTS New Media, Gray Area SF, SIGGRAPH, ISEA and more. Meshi is based in San Jose, CA.
