Chang Hsin-Yu
Artist Bio
Chang Hsin-Yu is an interactive, sound, and installation artist based in Taiwan. He was born in Hsinchu in 1999 and graduated from the Department of New Media Art at Taipei National University of the Arts. For him, sound is a way of exploring the world, an abstract but direct form of energy and an invisible mental force. His sound installations explore the spatiality, systems, and transformation of sound, using generative processes to respond to life experiences and imagination. Compared to complete planning and control, he finds the randomness of sound under certain rules more exciting and full of vitality. His audiovisual performances are usually created through programming, focusing on the relationship between
sound and image and extending the possibilities of their most basic elements. He often creates and destroys structures in his performances, and sees noise as a form of liberating energy.
