Artist Bio
I am an animator and experimental filmmaker from Queens, New York. My films explore themes of gender, sexuality, and race, and make connections to fields like biology, anthropology, poetry, and history. The work is centered on my relationship with my body: physically, psychologically and emotionally. I use the human body as an anchor point to question the inherent politics of how people see and understand each other. How are we compared and talked about? How can a body resist, evolve or transform from an assigned state or judgement? My films are an attempt to understand my relationship to the world and to interrogate the space between myself and others. My practice is a personally radical one where I imagine how to navigate and thrive in the world, It is an attempt to redefine and reorganize my sense of being and worth on my own terms.
