Peter Patchen
Artist Bio
Peter Frank Patchen is a mixed-media artist exhibiting and lecturing nationally and internationally. He grew up in the mountains of the western United States where the natural environment had a profound influence on his perception of the relationships that exist between nature, humanity, culture and technology.
After graduating from the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs he earned a Masters of Fine Art from the University of Oregon in Eugene Oregon. In 1993, he founded the New Media program at the University of Toledo.
Currently, he maintains a studio in the Red Hook area of, Brooklyn. He is also the Chair of the Department of Digital Arts at Pratt Insitute.
His recent work Patchen uses the iterative qualities of digital technologies ranging from 3D printing and pen plots to data projections combined with traditional media to transform explore the relationship between our culture and our technology.
